Main duties and responsibilities
Role Description
The appointed Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for providing a
professional health and safety service to all levels of staff working within Apleona and
client organisations. The role will report directly into the EHS Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and administering procedures (including safety statement, risk assessments and
safety related protocols, environmental aspects register, etc) to ensure compliance with
Health and Safety legislative requirements and corporate Environmental and Health &
Safety policy;
- Assist in the maintenance and development of ISO45001 & ISO14001 as part of the
Integrated Management system
- Conducting and reviewing risk assessments and ensure measures to control risks are
implemented and monitored both for Apleona activities and as part of EH&S client projects;
- Management and development of site Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan
- Providing health and safety advice and support on site / client projects
- Preparing health and
safety documentation required for site projects (PSDP/PSCS duties)
- Ensuring contractor safety management arrangements are established and implemented
- Maintaining close liaison with facilities, technical and administrative staff to ensure
implementation of regulations pertaining to Health and Safety
- Completion of DSE workstation assessments (including WFH Assessments)
- Completion
of manual handling training and manual handling risk assessments
- Work closely with
senior managers and provide advice where necessary
- Managing Occupational Health
services
- Maintaining systems of auditing and in accordance with current Environmental & Health and
Safety legislation and Corporate procedures
- Investigation and formal recording and reporting of accidents or incidents onsite or on client
sites
- Participating in safety groups and communications forums where health and safety matters
are discussed
- Maintaining records and systems necessary to fulfil health and safety policy including those
containing confidential information in an appropriate manner
- Developing and delivering
training to staff in core EHS subjects and also specialist health and safety areas; covering such
topics as; Health and Safety for managers and supervisors, risk assessment, hazardous
substances, display screen equipment, office safety and fire safety
- Maintain appropriate documented evidence of all work undertaken including training
- Providing advice regarding staff and client health and safety training and competency
requirements
- Producing professional reports to management and clients as required relating to matters of
environmental health and safety management
Required Skills/Experience
- Degree in health and safety
- Experience in management of ISO14001 or ISO 45001
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within a similar role in customer service driven environment
- DSE Assessor trained
- Experience in auditing environmental health and safety management system
- Proficiency in Microsoft IT applications
- Excellent communication skills
- Good Organisational Skills, must be able to multitask
- Enthusiasm and Reliability
- Fluency in English
- Full Clean Driving Licence
- Access to own vehicle
Working Pattern:
Mon to Fri - 09:00 to 17:00
