Overall Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will support the company EHS management system. You will be responsible for providing technical support on all environmental, health and safety systems to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the EHS Manager
- Support Apleona teams across specific client account (8 sites)
- Conduct work activities in line with Apleona EHS management system
- Provide support to ensure activities are being undertaken in line with company EHS management system
- Maintain and enhance customer confidence through the application of company EHS management systems, processes, and procedures
- Conduct risk assessments of work activities and provide support to managers to carry out risk assessments
- Create method statements for work activities and review contractor method statements for accuracy
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with company EHS management system and legislation
- Actively promote our dynamic risk assessment program; 5 Seconds for Myself
- Monitor our near miss, accident, and incident system. Carry out accident investigations. Implement remedial actions. Review trends in near miss reporting.
- Maintain, develop, and carry out training programs to prevent accidents occurring
- Carry out training on EHS systems, processes, and procedures
- Provide EHS support for projects
- Provide guidance and support on waste management activities
- Promote sustainability
Person Specification
- Must possess a positive approach to EHS, shaping the way things are done, how managers interpret EHS policies and promote a positive EHS culture among personnel
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Must possess a hands-on approach to EHS
Qualifications and Experience
- NFQ Level 8 qualification in EHS
- 3+ years’ experience, ideally within a life science sector
- IOSH membership desirable
- Auditing qualifications ISO 9001,14001,45001or working towards
- Manual Handling Instructor desirable
- Knowledge of Irish EHS regulations, guidelines, and best practices
Working Pattern:
Monday to Thursday 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday 8 AM to 3:30 PM.
